Informed Health Choice Missouri is a vote NO on Amendment 5 and here is why. We have also attached copies of the actual legislation, marked up with our notes.
- Amendment 5, if passed, would give the Missouri legislature the ability to raise your sales taxes, unchecked, for multiple years, as they attempt to phase out the state income tax.
- Amendment 5, if passed, would take away local control from your county or municipality, forcing them to lower their tax rates, after more revenue is generated from the increased/expanded sales tax. Many local services could be impacted by the loss of local revenue.
- At this current time, Amendment 5 gives no details about what will be taxed (services, gasoline, real estate transactions)?
Take the time to study the legislation on your own, but we highly recommend a NO vote on August 4.
